About Laura

  • Athletic, 169 cm
  • Green eyes
  • Light brown hair the sun keeps lifting
  • Mid twenties, Paddington
  • Horses, ski runs, Italian towns

Fifteen minutes on the Heathrow Express to the central terminals, if the timetable behaves. Laura lives in Paddington and knows that ride by heart, which makes her a natural choice when your hotel sits beside a runway. Athletic and 169 cm, she has green eyes that catch the lobby lights and long hair in a light brown the sun keeps lifting. Travel days get a practical kind of elegance: a camel coat, soft knitwear, boots that could handle a mountain path. Mid twenties, never short of energy.

Adventurous is her whole biography. Laura is in a saddle any weekend she can get out of town, on skis each winter the diary allows, and in Italy whenever both fail, working through a list of small towns she intends to finish. Warmth comes naturally. She talks with her hands, laughs with her whole face, and asks about the country you flew in from with genuine interest. English is her language, spoken quickly when she is excited, which is often.

Her best airport evening is at the Hilton London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5, a large modern hotel a short shuttle ride from the terminal building and far enough from the queues to feel like somewhere else. She checks the arrivals board before leaving, so she knows about a delay before you do. Dinner in the hotel, a lap of the ground floor to loosen the legs after a long flight, then upstairs for the rest of the booking. Three hours is the airport minimum, travel included, and she spends none of it watching the clock.

Terminal notes and hotel details sit on the Heathrow page. Give the desk notice where you can, then send your arrival time through booking.

Evening plan

How a night with Laura unfolds

Laura's airport evenings work because she respects jet lag. If you land at six she will not suggest a restaurant in town. She suggests the hotel's own kitchen, a steak or a generous bowl of pasta, and a table well away from the television. She tells you about the ski run that frightened her last winter and asks where you would go with one free week in Italy.

After dinner she walks you once around the ground floor to shake off the flight, then upstairs, where heavy curtains shut out the approach lights and the room finally goes still. She has a gift for making three hours feel unhurried. When she leaves she checks the train times on the way out and is back in Paddington before your tea has gone cold.

FAQ 03

Asked of Laura

3 questions guests tend to ask, answered by Laura.

It is my commute in reverse. One train from near my door, a short hop to the hotel, and I am there. I enjoy it, which surprises everyone.

Somewhere small in the hills. The big cities are wonderful, but the best lunch of your life will be in a town with one piazza and no parking.

Sometimes in Hyde Park, early, when the sand track is empty. It feels like a secret the city keeps for people who get up before seven.
